Colm has wide experience in dentistry having gained post graduate training for general practitioners in Bristol University in Orthodontics, Oral Surgery and tooth wear.
In addition, he received training in Orthodontics from Mr. Keith Isaacson consultant orthodontist. Mr. Isaacson treatment plans all orthodontic cases, and can advise on cases during treatment.
Colm has worked as a part time clinical tutor in Queens University for five years and was an associate editor of the ‘Irish Dentist’ magazine for two years.
In the year 2000 he was appointed by the Post Graduate Medical & Dental Board as a trainer in Vocational Training for dentists. Finally, he has been involved in dental research in Queens University and was a member of the International Association for Dental Research.
Dr. Smith keeps current with all the latest techniques in dentistry and has a particular interest in aesthetic and prosthetic dentistry, having been among the first dentists to place Veneers and Maryland bridges in Ireland over 25 years ago. Over the last five years he has regularly travelled to the United States to keep up to date on the various implant systems.
Chris has been a major player in the BOULD postgraduate training programme and has lectured on the Bristol M.Sc Implant course. He has been involved in many research projects in the hospital and has contributed to many literature reviews. He is held in extremely high regard by general practitioners as one of the best lecturers in his field, and his courses are always fully booked up.
Chris is highly experienced in dental sedation and is a founding member of the Dental Teacher Sedation Group (DTSG). Patients can have great confidence in having their sedation managed by such expertise.
Chris has been visiting Cootehill for 15 years, and in addition to treating patients from the Practice, he accepts referrals from other practitioners.
Over the past number of years Jonathan has attended many post-graduate courses and has developed an interest in Restoration Dentistry.
He joined the practice in 2001 and has developed a great interest in Gerodontics, especially in dentures and minimally invasive dentistry.
He has recently developed the mini-implant system for loose lower dentures and for palate free upper dentures.
Aoife has a special interest in orthodontics and works along side Mr. Keith Isaacson, Consultant Orthodontist.
